8 months.   Not really getting the hang of this catching lark, Dad’s a bit worried, he got me to do Disc and I like DANCIN’.  Apparently when I’m older I can combine the two and do Freestyle, when I’m old enough to do leaps and vaults.  Can’t see what the problem is, I can leap all over the place – Mum can’t take me to work any more as I keep leaping onto the counter.  They had their first DB event this month, it went really well.  I didn’t see much of it, as I was kept away, something called being ‘too silly’ when I saw other dogs, which I thought were more interesting than discs.  But it was my first time at a big event, and first camping experience, so they hope I’ll be better next time.  A few days ago, they took me to see some friends doing a HTM demo at a local show, and afterwards I went into the ring and showed off my moves, and I was really good at concentrating on Dad, so they know I can do it, if I want!

9 months. I’ve started learning some moves that will be incorporated into Freestyle later.  First is ‘Scoot’.  This is where I spin so I have my back to Dad, and then shuffle backwards between his legs.  The idea is that I will then be able to vault onto his back.  This is something that Rigsby can do already, so I want to be able to do it better than him, ‘cos I’m ME, Clever Cookie.  I will also do this move if Dad is on one knee, I can go under the other leg.  They’ve started me on vaults, just coaxing me onto Dad’s back while he’s crouching on the floor, so I get the feel of being on his back.  Actually I didn’t need much coaxing – they started it in the kitchen, and it only took me a few minutes to realise that if I got on Dad’s back, I could then leap onto the kitchen unit, where my training treats were!

10 months. Quite an exciting time for me.  Still doin’ my dancin’, and tricks, like skate boarding and clasping a walking stick to my chest, but things are moving, (finally, thank goodness, says Dad) with my Disc work.  Last week I went in the car with Rigsby and Beano ( – oh, yeh, and Dad), to see Auntie Pat.  She was over here staying in Yorkshire doing an art course, so we went to visit for the day.  She’s from Canada, which I know is a very long way away, and our journey was very long, so I figure Yorkshire is in Canada.  It’s a bit like where I come from – Australia is a very long way away, and when Dad came to fetch me from Norfolk, that was a very long journey, though I slept most of the way, so I know Norfolk must be in Australia!  Anyway, so I met my Auntie Pat.  We didn’t do anything with discs, but something must have rubbed off – 4 days later I really got the hang of this disc lark.  We went to do a GBDB event, and Mum and Dad took me out and started playing with a disc.  It was so annoying – they had it, I wanted it, so when they ‘accidentally’ threw one a bit lower, I grabbed it. That was it, I love my disc now, and by the end of the session was pelting after distance ones, and even made a few air catches.  I’m supposed to be too young to do much jumping, but at home I jump all over the place, and given the choice of running further, or getting ahead and jumping for it, I chose the jumpy version.  I am now a proper Disc Dog, I think.  They say I must wait a few months before I do too much, but I don’t agree.  I’m good at not agreeing.  I was also much better at this camping lark, only barked at some dogs, and even played nicely with a new friend, a lurchery type thing called Thorden.

11 months. Another of these camping GBDB things.  I’m getting the hang of this blue fabric house and mini garden, and have worked out that if I crawl under the trailer, I can stick my head out the other side.  But I’m not really a runny away sort of girl, I like to look and bark.  They don’t seem to like the barky bit, don’t know why.  I did some more disc catching.  I like catching them, but only if there are no other dogs around.  I prefer to play with other dogs!  The other day, Mum was saying to Grandma on the phone that I only had a few weeks left of being a puppy – when I was a year old, I wouldn’t have that excuse.  Well, that evening, I don’t know what was going on, but I’ve felt a bit odd for the last few days, and Mum has had to keep washing the floor.  Apparently I’ve ‘become a woman’!  Mum and Dad say this is good ‘cos it’ll all be over and done with by EMDAC.  I don’t know what they’re talking about.  They also say it’s not so good ‘cos I’ll need an op. in a couple of months time, and they’re still counting the cost of the flooding.  Don’t know what an op. is.  Molly says they’ll do all sorts of things to me and it’s agony, I’ll be sore for weeks and I’ll never be the same again and I should run away from home now to get out of it.  Mum says ‘don’t be silly, Molly, you were up and about the same day, and never even noticed your stitches’.

7 months.   I love this dancing lark – I’m a natural.  Mum says she’ going to get me some white stiletto’s and an’ andbag to dance round.  God knows what Dad’ll wear.!  I can walk to heel, sit nicely to the side and front, spin either direction, both in front and while walking, walk backwards, and weave between legs.

29th MARCH – I CAUGHT MY FIRST DISC!  Dad plays with me before supper, and waves a disc around in front of me, and throws it towards me, a distance of about 4 feet.  Today I thought I’d better catch it so I could hurry up and get my supper, but he was so pleased with me for some reason, that it took even longer to arrive.
